Eleos. An outrage in 36 miniatures

by Caren Jeß
€ 18,50 / € 9 (red.)

Eleos and phobos – fear and pity – are the cathartic emotions that a tragic work should elicit, so that an individual can return to their reality morally cleansed after their visit to the theater. While the author Caren Jeß does not believe in catharsis, she does wish it were present, because if we already were clean, we would no longer have to be emotionally agitated. In 36 short scenes highly diverse in their form and style, she dissects outrage itself with poetic sensitivity and literary virtuosity, telling deeply humane stories about highly civilized individuals at their breaking point.
