14:00 - 20:30 | 8 Organic Fruit Farm of the Dreier Family
Un-Knowing
The project OFFENE FELDER - Kunst und Landwirtschaft
(Open Fields - Art and Agriculture) of the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria (KiöR) brings together farmers and artists
in order to open a dialogue at eye level and in critical discussion with each other. At the beginning of 2022, farmers from
all sectors, from mountain farmers to winegrowers, were invited to express their interest in an art project on their farms.
The open international competition for artists followed in early spring. The 12 selected projects include films, installations,
performances and actions as well as musical compositions, sculptures and a land art project.
The projects of Berlin-based artist Paul Wiersbinski (*1983) move at the interface between art, science and technology and deal with artificial intelligence, etymology and cybernetics. Together with the Dreier family on their farm in Pöllau, he reflects on how concepts of growth and uncertainty can be thematised with regard to ecological processes. The results of these investigations are a video collage, interviews with regional experts, a publication and a performative installation that will be presented on 25 June 2023. In it, the artist deals with the cybernetic dimension of agriculture in a ritualistic way.
